Reflection 11/6
This week was unexpected for me. Before I went in on Wednesday, my entire hour and a half was booked. I had three sessions with students who were in various stages of their papers and all for different classes. However, when I arrived at the RWC and checked the schedule, I found that my first two sessions had been cancelled. I've had students cancel appointments before, but never more than one at a time. So, I did some work while I waited to see if there would be a walk-in student. The past couple of sessions I have ended up having walk-in students, but I was surprised when no one walked in this week. Even the other tutors were waiting for someone to walk in if they weren't with a student already. I'm not sure why, but I guess this week was a slow one. My last appointment was not cancelled, but the student ended up not coming in. This was actually the first time where I didn't tutor any students at all. I actually found myself listening to Colleen's session with her registered students that I shadowed with. I wanted to know where they were at from when I used to shadow Colleen. I was interested in how previous projects of theirs had gone and how they are approaching present ones. I actually saw progress in one of the students that we initially had an issue with. He was being more talkative and putting forth his own ideas. I believe it was because he was more passionate about this assignment and that's why he cared so much and was so excited. You can definitely tell how much a student cares for an assignment or is passionate about a paper when they are excited to talk to you about every little thing they've been thinking that has to do with it.
