9/16

I think my biggest challenge in these next few weeks as I begin tutoring will be just getting comfortable and keeping my nerves in check. I know I’m not the only one who gets anxious in new situations but I want to make sure that my nerves do not distract me from what I’m there to do. I think that I will be able to remember everything that we have learned in these past few weeks but applying this knowledge is another story. I think rather than trying to come up with a plan of how to approach every scenario (although it would be impossible to predict every kind of scenario anyway) I just have to relax and trust myself as a tutor and also remember that everyone has to start somewhere; I don’t have to be perfect after the first session. I’m excited and very thankful for the mentoring and co-tutoring sessions that we have before continuing on our own. There is only so much you can learn in a classroom so it will be nice to observe our mentors and see them in action. I can’t wait to get started!

  1. I also get nervous in new social situations but I hope that the techniques we've learned in class will help me to get over this awkwardness. I also think applying this knowledge will be useful but difficult to execute. I'm glad we had a few weeks to prepare and learn before jumping in
